|
| Homer Yost grew up in New Jersey, Hawaii and Maryland. He first studied art at Upsala College, then concentrated on figurative drawing and sculpture with Sigmund Abeles at UNH-Durham. Working under Peter Agostini at UNC-Greensboro, he received his MFA in 1984. Today, Homer lives on a farm, where for fifteen years he raised the sheep that inspire much of his work. The arrival of his son Landon provided additional inspiration, resulting in new images of mother, infant and child. Sculpture commissions include series of the “Stations of the Cross” and “Mysteries of the Rosary” for churches in Middletown, Maryland and Aurora, Colorado. Last year he received a commission to sculpt two heroic-sized diamondback terrapins in bronze. Homer has been represented by gallery owner Tracy Causey-Jeffery since 1994. He exhibits regularly at her gallery Ch’i Contemporary Fine Art in Brooklyn, New York. See more of his sculpture at the Ch'i website.
